When holidays don’t stop logistics: 55-tonne oversized crane to Jeddah

Jan 21, 2026News

The holiday season often slows down transport, but there was no compromise for this project — a 55-tonne oversized crane set off from Ruse to Jeddah to arrive in time for an important international exhibition.

The challenge

The project involved an oversized load with a high dead weight and specific safety and handling requirements. The time window added an extra layer of complexity — loading had to be completed on the last working day before the holidays, December 23, and departure was scheduled for December 31.

The customer required a fast and secure solution, as the equipment had to arrive at its destination by January 26. The holiday period meant limited availability of carriers, reduced terminal operations, and more difficult coordination throughout the logistics chain.

Our approach

We developed a solution focused on minimal transit time and cargo security:

  • Secured a direct Ro-Ro service to Jeddah to avoid unnecessary transshipments.
  • Arranged available carriers and terminal handling despite the holiday schedule.
  • Carefully planned the loading of the out-of-gauge crane with strict control over security and safety.
  • Coordinated all participants along the chain — forwarding team, terminal operators, carriers, and the shipping line.
  • Maintained constant communication and full shipment visibility for the client.

The result

The cargo was shipped within the critical time window and arrived on time for the customer’s participation in the exhibition. The project confirmed our ability to manage oversized transport within short deadlines and under complex operating conditions.

The successful execution led to new partnerships along the route and strengthened the client’s confidence in our ability to handle challenging international projects.
