When dimensions exceed the standard: 14.4m-long shipment from Sweden to Bulgaria

Aug 12, 2025News

Some shipments are valuable not only because of what they’re worth, but because of the complexity involved in getting them safely to their destination. Our latest project from Sweden to Bulgaria shows how we manage every detail to ensure smooth delivery, even with non-standard cargo.

The challenge

The cargo measured 14.40 m (length) x 2.20 m (width) x 3.00 m (height) and weighed 11,000 kg. While not extremely heavy, its length and volume required an open flatbed truck and classified it as oversized. Such loads demand meticulous preparation to avoid impassable routes, regulatory issues, or last-minute delays.

We started by mapping the entire route in advance, accounting for:

  • Infrastructure restrictions such as bridge clearances and road widths.
  • Ferry capacity: confirming that the vessel could handle both dimensions and weight.
  • National regulations: securing permits for each transit country well ahead of departure.

We coordinated the entire process with all participants along the route to avoid delays and difficulties. As always with oversized cargo, our focus was on risk prevention and complete control over the process.

The result

The cargo arrived on time, intact, and without any difficulties, proving that oversized doesn’t have to mean high-risk. By combining technical expertise, pre-emptive route checks, and constant coordination, we delivered a reliable solution to a complex transport.

At GOPET TRANS, we believe that oversized does not mean problematic. We turn logistical challenges into working solutions.
