Intermodal Pioneers in Bulgaria

Jun 1, 2014News

July 20th 2014 sets an important milestone for Gopet: the start of the first block train connecting Bulgaria and Romania fully operated by a Bulgarian major player on the forwarding market.

This is the result of the vision, exceptional teamwork and local business knowledge and it is only the first phase of a major project aiming to create viable connections between the Balkans and the UK.
The train runs weekly connecting Bulgarian terminals of Stara Zagora and Ruse to terminals in Benelux and Ruhr, Germany via terminal Curtici, Romania.

Clients based in the Balkans or Western Europe can integrate easily transportation by train to their business in order to gain in predictability and efficiency. Other important advantages are:
• Security – Railway Transportation is made under the rules of the Convention of International Carriage by Rail (COTIF);
• Environmental sustainability –Electrified rail line (traction by electric locomotive);
• The trains are running also during weekends (thus avoiding road traffic stand-by, rest stops and traffic bans);
• Shorter transit times due to dedicated rail path and private traction providers.
